Founder - Kath Albiston

With a background in the voluntary and statutory sector, prior to founding itoi Kath worked as a senior probation practitioner specialising in domestic violence, and the risk assessment and management of high risk offenders.  Working in the joint police and probation Multi Agency Public Protection Unit Kath was responsible for the convening and chairing of area wide MAPPA meetings (multi agency risk assessment meetings to manage high risk offenders).  She also held a specialist role in relation to domestic violence and was responsible for developing, and subsequently chairing, risk meetings in relation to all perpetrators of domestic violence who were undertaking the accredited probation programme. Such meetings worked on a multi agency basis to develop effective risk assessments to recognise and manage the risk posed by perpetrators to their families whilst living in the community.

While in this role Kath developed her expertise in relation to training including working as a regional SARA trainer (Spousal Assault Risk Assessment – a Canadian risk assessment tool developed by Randall Kropp).  She further undertook staff consultation around issues of domestic violence and risk, represented the Probation Service on the domestic violence regional forum, was involved in the writing of domestic violence policy and guidelines and participated in the regional research advisory group.

Since starting trading as itoi Kath has taken the lead in a wide range of consultancy and training packages.  This has included a variety of projects around service provision, policy and practice, and staff training and development.   On each project Kath works with associates from a variety of backgrounds to bring up to date and relevant perspectives to each contract.

Kath is also a Respect approved trainer.
